New Product – Pre Launch Notification

Thursday, June 2nd, 2011

Vivitek has launched the new Qumi Q2 3D pocket projector it’s so new that it’s not available to hire until the end of June!
Why is this projector different from any other? Its weighs only 1.4 pounds and is a sleek compact design so it is perfect for people on the go and easily fits into a bag or briefcase.
The Qumi is a 300 ansi portable projector that doesn’t sacrifice resolution or brightness, which are usually the first casualties of pocket-sized projector models.
This projector is perfect for small business meetings, sales representatives and for use on exhibition stands and as it is compatible with digital cameras, laptops, smart phones and tablets it is also perfect for personal use too.
Although we are primarily a hire company we are giving you the opportunity to buy these projectors. We have yet to learn the launch price of these products but we expect them to be in the region of £495.00 + VAT.

What is a Gobo?

Wednesday, February 4th, 2009

A gobo is best compared to a stencil or photographic slide. They are used in all manner of stage lights, automated lights and projectors. Gobos can be used to project logos, patterns or photographic images.

They can be made of metal, black and white glass or coloured glass and range in size from 22.5mm to 100mm in diameter. We have a range of adaptors to fit all types of lighting equipment and projectors.

What types of gobo are available?

  • Metal
  • Black and white glass
  • Coloured glass

Here are some photos of the different types of gobos and the projections they achieve:

Gobo examples

Metal vs Glass

Metal gobos are the cheaper option, this is because they are made of a cheaper material and can more easily be mass produced. The drawbacks of metal gobos are:

  • Tagging
  • Only black and white images
  • Limit on detail
  • Longevity

See gobos in action in our image gallery.
